Four Essential Sea Shepherd Documentaries

Sea Shepherd flag - Rörelse för djurrätt

We've been able to follow the adventures of Sea Shepherd's activists in the TV show Whale Wars on Animal Planet since 2008. But what you might not know is that there also are several documentaries about Sea Shepherd!

So today I've gathered four documentaries about and with the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Confessions of an Eco-Terrorist (2010)
90 minutes. Rating on Imdb: 7,7/10
This documentary is directed by Peter Brown, who also appear in the film alongside of Sea Shepherd activist Paul Watson. The film mix the serious matter and a sense of humor. A small warning for the initial graphic scenes in the trailer that you will find below.

At the Edge of the World (2008)
90 minutes. Rating on Imdb: 7,2/10
This is the first film I saw about Sea Shepherd and what they do. I saw it several years ago. Even though it contains some action the people working on their ships must have lots of patience when they travel across great distance. The film shows us beautiful surroundings for example icebergs and parts of the wildlife that the organization is attempting to protect.

Pirate for the Sea (2008)
99 minutes. Rating on Imdb: 8,0/10
This documentary that's directed by Ronald Colby focus on Paul Watson, one of the founders of Sea Shepherd. Attempting to protect the animals of the sea from hunters
The film shows us Paul Watson's commitment to protect the animals of the sea, it also contains personal interviews both with him and other persons in the environmental movement which paints an interesting picture of him and Sea Shepherd.

Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson (2011)
110 minutes. Rating on Imdb: 7,9/10
The last of the four Sea Shepherd films I've gathered in this post is a portrait of Paul Watson and his commitment. This award-winning documentary from Canada is directed and produced by Trish Dolman. We get to look back to the beginning of Sea Shepherd and the activist's commitment to protect these peaceful and intelligent creatures of the Sea.

I think many of us find that the activists of this organization are doing important work. Many more would probably agree if they saw a few or all of the documentaries mentioned above.

Thank you for visiting Rörelse för djurrätt! Take care!
